Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and Oficina Nacional de la Propiedad Industrial (ONAPI) will celebrate on March 10th, the National Forum about Intellectual Property Policies as an instrument to promote the Technology Transfer and Value Creation.
The event, organized in the framework of the Project “Empowering knowledge transfer in the Caribbean through effective IPR & KT regimes” (IPICA), will be carried out in the Julio Ravelo de la Fuente Hall at INTEC Campus, Dominican Republic, with the participation of representatives of nationals Universities, Research Centers and Institutions related to intellectual property in the country.
Universities and Intellectual Property Offices of five countries have joined efforts to improve innovation capacity in the Caribbean Region under the Project IPICA, which is co-financed by the European Commission on the framework of the ACP-EU Co-operation Programmed in Science and Technology (S&T II).
In this regard, INTEC conducted a benchmarking study, with the aim of studying the Intellectual Property Policies in the universities and Research Centres of the Caribbean Region, an important input for desingning IP policies.
ONAPI, as part of the IPICA Project and in line with the National Innovation Strategy, supports this initiative playing a proactive role in the dissemination of Intellectual Property and its importance, its registration mechanisms and its economic benefits.
This Office, through its Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs), provides guidance to students, researchers and innovators bringing them to search patent in the databases with expert technical guidance to enable them to protect their inventions through registration.
